Time and Frequency Distribution

Applications

Time & Frequency Distribution

Spectracom’s core expertise is based on delivering accurate, secure and easy-to-integrate precise and reliable time and frequency signals to where it is needed.

Often times it starts by processing the precision timing signal from the GPS system, but the right solution for your application is dependent on the distribution of accurate time and frequency, particularly in GPS-denied environments. Spectracom is well versed in timing and synchronization protocols including those for network timing (such as NTP and PTP), time codes based on the Inter-Range Instrumentation Group (IRIG) and STANAG standards, telecom timing, ASCII time codes using serial communication standards and all other time-transfer mechanisms. We offer a wide range of synchronization product types to meet the demands of many applications. Choose from modular 1U master clocks, application-specific modules and instruments, network appliances with state-of-the art NTP server capability, network displays, synchronization software, bus-level plug-in PC cards and boards for various instrument chassis. Each type of product is capable of synchronizing to a precise reference and distributing it in a way that adds value for the application.

To supplement these products, or to leverage an existing precision time and frequency signal, we offer a variety of distribution amplifiers depending on the signal types (including electrical or optical), and quantities and the need for automatic fail-over switches for redundancy.

And if you don't see what you need here, our capabilities range to rapid development of custom solutions so we can provide a turnkey system that offers you the lowest cost of ownership and the maximum reliability.

Products for Time and Frequency Distribution

PTP

  DA35/36

PTP Products

Precision Time Protocol (IEEE-1588) offers the ability for accurate time transfer, with much more accuracy than NTP, over Ethernet. We offer several types of products for testing and implementing PTP on your networks: grandmaster clocks, master/slave network appliances, plug-in computer boards, Linux software, and a synchronization tester.

Frequency Distribution Amplifier System

The DA-35 and DA-36 Frequency Distribution Amplifiers offer an economical solution to the problem of low-jitter transfer of frequency reference signals over longer distance, by coax or fiber optic cable. The DA-35 offers a modular multipoint to multipoint system, while the DA-36 offers a compact point to point capability.

SAS-E

  Custom Solutions

SAS-E Epsilon Switch & Amplifier Systems

SAS-E Switch & Amplifer Systems offer simultaneous distribution of frequency and clock signals to many devices in applications where timing and frequency is required. It includes remote management via Ethernet and offers automated or manual switching between two sources in a 1RU and 2RU chassis depending on the number of signals.

Custom Solutions

Spectracom has broad capabilities in delivering precise time and frequency solutions to precisely match your application. We understand that one size doesn’t always fit all and we will work with you to develop custom solutions.

SecureSync SAASM GPS receiver

  PCI

SecureSync® Synchronization System

The flexible SecureSync offers  the combination of Spectracom's precision master clock technology and a compact modular hardware design that can be used as an integrated one-piece reference and distribution system. Option modules can be added to increase the number of signal types and signal quantities.

Bus-Level Timing

Synchronize one or more computer- or instrument chassis-based system to a time code, providing accurate timing, time stamps for external events, time-based interrupts, and timing and frequency reference signals to other devices. Spectracom's TSync, TPRO and TSAT timing cards easily integrate into PCs and Servers (PCI and PCI express) and instrument and other interfaces (cPCI, PMC, PC104, IP).
