Why RADIUS?
  • RADIUS supports "AAA" – Authentication (is it you, are you trusted?), Authorization (what can you do?) and Accounting (for how long did you do it?) of user access to the network and applications.
  • The 9200 Series supports authentication of NetClock users.

Introduction

Authentication of network users is increasingly important to support IT security and regulatory compliance. Spectracom’s NetClock® products support up to 16 local user accounts, but can, as a standard feature, also centrally authenticate to enterprise RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service) servers.

How Does NetClock Support RADIUS?

  • Conforms to standard (RFC 2865)
  • Pluggable Authentication Module (PAM)-based interface
  • Password Authentication Protocol (PAP) authentication of NetClock users
  • Shared Secret Key String when accessing RADIUS servers
  • Password to access RADIUS server
  • MD5 key for authentication to the RADIUS server
  • NetClock products support up to 5 RADIUS servers
  • RADIUS client login events are logged in the Auth Log; user activity is logged in the Journal Log
