SecureSync™ time & frequency synchronization system unveiled at MILCOM 2009 in Boston

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK — Spectracom, a company of the Orolia Group (NYSE Alternext Paris – FR0010501015 – ALORO), introduces the SecureSync™ synchronization system today at MILCOM 2009, the premier international conference for military communications. Synchronization of field operations is critical for armed forces around the globe – virtually every network and communications system requires it. SecureSync uniquely meets the needs of defense departments and agencies and their contactors for flexibility, security, and reliability.

Spectracom’s sales vice president, Al Olderstein, said, “Our military customers require a synchronization solution that is feature-rich, but at a low cost of deployment. SecureSync is a flexible “configure-to-order” system. We deliver only the features needed today, expandable in the future, for the lowest cost of ownership.”

The compact rack-mount unit offers common timing and frequency functions that are expandable through modular option cards. Up to 6 cards can be accommodated to offer synchronization to a wide variety of references and devices. An extensive number of traditional and contemporary timing protocols and signal types are supported including: GPS (commercial and encrypted [SAASM]), digital and analog timing and frequency signals (1PPS, 10 MHz and more), timecodes (IRIG, STANAG, ASCII), network timing (NTP, PTP), telecom timing (T1/E1). Olderstein adds, “From our long heritage in developing time and frequency products, we are well-known in the industry for our commitment to partnering with customers to determine precisely what they need. The modularity of SecureSync allows us to respond even faster to special requests that can be turned into commercial-off-the-shelf options.”

The SecureSync system is a security-hardened network appliance that includes tamper-proof management. Robust network protocols allow for easy and secure authentication, authorization, and accounting/auditing. Spectracom product manager, Jim Allocco, said, “As military applications become more network-centric, we understand the need to leverage centralized management of those networks while maintaining the highest possible security. All our network management features and ports can be enabled/disabled according to the security policy and, under a multi-port configuration, can be restricted to one network. We also fully support the US DoD transition to IPv6 networks.”

Reliability is also fundamental to design of the SecureSync system. Spectracom offers its industry-leading 5-year warranty on all SecureSync units and options.

MILCOM 2009 runs through Wednesday, October 21.
