Location: Rochester, New York
Spectracom designs, develops and manufactures precise time and frequency products that are integral components of computer networks, communications systems and a variety of test and measurement applications. Demand for our products and technology is universal and growing. To support this growth we are currently seeking a Sales Engineer to join our Sales Team. The focus of this position is to manage International customer inquiries through identification of application requirements, optimal selection of products and services, quotation generation and effective communication of Spectracom’s value proposition. This includes working with customers and/or supporting distributors to achieve targeted revenue objectives for the territory.
Qualifications/Experience Requirements:
- Associates degree in a technical field; BS in Electrical Engineering a plus
- Minimum two years experience in sales/technical support of electronic products sold to other businesses required
- Experience supporting International Sales a plus
- Experience with Information Technology/networking products a plus
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Achieve and exceed sales targets in various International regions outside of North America and Europe (i.e., Latin America and Asia)
- Prepare proposals or other documents as required for customers and distributors
- Timely response to inbound inquiries from distributors, marketing and lead generation programs
- Qualify all leads and sales opportunities
- Support and train distribution channel on Spectracom products and applications
- Maintain prospect/customer files and contacts using ACT database
- Forecast future business based on quotation activity and distributor feedback
- Comprehend technical and competitive landscape and provide input to Product Management, Marketing and Engineering
- Periodic travel (~5 %) to visit customers, distributors and attend technical conferences/trade shows
- Deliver results by effectively managing opportunities and utilizing sales acumen to close sales
- Submit orders and manage post sales activities
- Reporting as required for position

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships (with customers and distributors), primarily through phone and email contact.
- Efficient in use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and CRM tools
- Multiple language(s) skills a plus (Spanish, Portuguese, French or Chinese desirable)
